Our Story

How Bonnart began

My name is Tyler Richardson, I am a 30 year old artist from New Zealand and have been specializing in painting helmets for both people & brands from around the world since I was 12 years old under my business Helmart.

Alongside my passion for painting race helmets and branding, I wanted to create some unique race-used style artworks to hang on my office walls - the result of rough lines & bold colours meeting the scratched & tyre marked artworks gave me the idea that I would offer these one off special versions for others to bring their own garages, houses or office spaces to life with a retro racing theme.

And so the Bonnart journey begins! Each Bonnart piece is a special one off hand painted original design never to be made again, brought to life utilizing some of the leftover unused paints from my helmet artwork - www.helmart.co.nz

Being an established creator in a different realm, Bonnart gives me as an artist the opportunity to further add to and extend my creative arms in multiple directions.

The name Bonnart

Coming up with the brand name and ethos is always one of the most important steps. I wanted something that would stand strong both on its own within the racing scene or outside it, but also link back to my roots which is Helmart, moving recently into Chromart and now - Bonnart.

I looked for words from the racing and motor car industry that would work well together when combined with art, Bonnet seemed to click. In combination with that alot of my inspiration in all of my artwork comes from the music I listen to, there is a DJ from the UK by the name of Bonobo - so that has a cool little hint back to that for me too.

Looking to the future - For me Bonnart is a way of utilizing my left over helmet paints, mixing them together to create new and funky colours, de-stressing from the intense levels of perfection I strive for in all of my clients helmet related work, and last but not least - creating unique, original artwork that I would love to share. As long as I can continue to do those things I see it as a win.

Stay tuned for further new and different items to be added to the Bonnart website.
